"[Marry Me Gay]...put a
little gay in this gala." —The New York Times
As an LGBT-owned and operated
company, the MARRY ME GAY team is deeply
sensitive to our clients' needs. Our mission is to make same-sex
couples the stars of their big day, rather than the "exception"
to their videographer's straight style.
“We love the work [of MARRY ME GAY], and we felt
more comfortable having a gay company film us at such an intimate
moment,” rave Stacey and Susan, who were recently wed in Provinceton,
MA. “They really captured the events and our feelings, but stayed
in the background. We
are so happy they were there to document our day."
Nancy Swartz, Owner & Director
Owner and director Nancy
Swartz is an Emmy award- winning television and documentary director
with lifetime credentials in the LGBT community. Her track
record includes producing and directing shows for MTV, VH1,
The History Channel, BBC and Sony TV. While
at Sony TV, Swartz produced a series of dream wedding segments
for “Life & Style.” At
“Good Morning America,” she procured an exclusive of the first gay
wedding ceremony in San Francisco’s City Hall and helped break the
news to the world. Her story on domestic partnerships for Court
TV was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award. Nancy is a longtime member
of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalist Association, and a former
board member of the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
Swartz is sought out by gay and lesbian couples because
of her approach to documenting their special day. “A lot of traditional
videographers who do straight weddings have a formula, whereas gay
couples all have their own stories that have to be told a certain
way,” says Swartz. “Sometimes one bride will wear a dress, and sometimes
both wear a dress. Some gay men like
to design their own weddings and are checking details until the last
minute. I capture each story individually. The couples don’t have
to explain who they are. There is no exception.”
Videographers & Editors
Marry Me Gay works with a team
of professional video journalists who shoot reality shows, news and
documentaries for such channels as HBO, MTV, and Logo. Each shooter
brings a high level of professionalism, sensitivity and artistic
style to his or her work.
